Who we are
Durgapur is an industrial city in West Bengal, India, the brain child of one of the greatest Doctor and visionaries Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy (2nd Chief Minister of W.B.) situated at about 170 km West of Kolkata. It is one of the fastest growing city in eastern zone of India. The city is blessed with number of central and state industries like Durgapur Steel Plant, one of the integrated steel plants of Steel Authority of India Limited. Alloy Steels Plant of S.A.I.L. and Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (C.M.E.R.I.), a C.S.I.R. laboratory, are also here. There are three power plants (Durgapur Thermal Power Station, Damodar Valley Corporation & N.S.P.C.L.), and some chemical and engineering industries at Durgapur.
The Institution of Engineers (India) [IEI] is a statutory body to promote and advance the engineering and technology, established in 1920 and incorporated by Royal Charter in 1935. It is the largest multi-disciplinary professional body of engineers encompassing 15 (fifteen) engineering disciplines with a membership of more than 820 thousand, and serving the nation for more than 9 decades. The IEI has its headquarters located in Kolkata with national presence through more than hundred Centres and several Overseas Chapters, Foras and Organ.
Examinations
Durgapur Local Centre is regularly conducting the AMIE Examination since inception. We are grateful to IE (I), Headquarters for having trust on us to conduct examinations at this Centre. The Summer 2017 Examinations of Sections A and B shall be conducted at 70 Examination Centres in India and abroad during June 03-09, 2017.
